Homes and gardens are subject to as many fashions and trends as any other market out there today, including clothing, so if you are renovating your home then you need to find some classic pieces that will not date if you want to add new fixtures and fittings that will not need replacing for some time.
There are very few of those about, but some of the more unusual pieces on the market could be taken into consideration. For example, slate wall fountains are currently widely available and will give any home a classic and unusual touch. They will certainly provide a talking point!
Slate wall fountains come in a number of decorative designs, from the most plain to the intricately designed pieces that you would be likely to see in old British stately homes. As such, you can choose the one that you most like and would contribute the most to your home or garden. Of course, there are slate wall fountains that are meant for one or the other, but some can be used either outdoors or indoors.
The Slate Wall Fountain
The majority of slate wall fountains on the market are absolutely gorgeous. They are often hand crafted and so can be very expensive but this also means that each an every one is completely unique. As such, you can also request a specific design of fountain or even design it yourself with a logo or symbol that means something to you.
Aside from the design itself, you can always choose the colour of the fountain as well. Many manufacturers actually allow you to choose from a wide range of colours, including golds, greens, reds and other similar colours. Again, this gives it a personal touch and allows you to choose one that is completely unique for your own home.
Slate wall fountains often have another material in the structure to help maintain it so that it rarely needs repair or maintenance. In many cases, this is copper. The copper is often found in the hood and the tray because the water cannot seep through it or erode it as effectively as it would slate. This gives it a longevity that would not otherwise be there. However, the face of the slate wall fountain is always made of slate.
There are no special requirements for the installation of slate wall fountains at all, but the type of wall that will sustain the structure is dependent on the type of slate that the wall fountains are made of. For example, regular slate will need a secure brick wall, but lightweight slate wall fountains can be mounted on any type of wall, including stud walls and cinder block walls.
However, you should bear in mind that, in order for it to work, you will have to have an electric outlet close to the location of the fountain itself. An electrician can put a socket in for you if there is not one present, but ideally you will already have a socket in place.
Slate wall fountains can just be mounted on the wall with specialist mounts that will come with the fountain itself. You will need a drill, but all of the other materials you need can be obtained from the slate fountain manufacturer. It is a two man job though so you are certainly advised to prepare well in advance and ask the manufacturer for advice on how best to approach it. This way, your slate will not crack or be damaged in any way and you can have it up and ready to go in no time.
